First Snow

Snow......
In Texas?
YAAAAAYYYYYY!!! LOL! I've seen snow quite a few times over the years, but very, very little in Texas! This was Wesley's first time seeing snow. It wasn't much, but it was snow! He actually seemed to enjoy it!!

He enjoyed trying to chase Jud around in it!! (I love watching my husband and son together!)

This was to try to catch a picture of some of the snow flakes. That's my father-in-law's truck.
And, this Jud with Wesley and Jud's twin sister's little girl, Gracie over at my father-in-law's house.
The snow didn't stick, but it was pretty to see for a while!

November 2009

Ok, this is a small mixture of that last bit of November! Just a few pictures that I wanted to show, but didn't like the idea of two posts for just a few pictures!

First off, I crossed another number off of my 101 in 1001!!

16. Get a picture of Wesley on my Great-Grandfather's old porch. (This is around an hour and a half away from us.) I took these on the way back from Jud's uncle's house on Thanksgiving! My great-father passed away a few years ago, but he had been living with my Grand-mother for years now. But, I remember playing on this porch when I was little and, now I have a picture of my son on the same porch!

This is my favorite of the pictures!

And, this is my little sister with her nephew! They really love each other!

I really love these pictures!

Love,
Amanda

November Date Night

Does a sort-of group date count towards date night? Jud actually won tickets to see Zona Jones (Two Hearts, One Love), Earl Thomas Conley (It Should've Been Over By Now), and Tracy Byrd (Watermelon Crawl; Keeper of the Stars). My sister- and brother-in-law were both going and we came across an extra ticket, so my younger sister came with us. The concert was at our local rodeo arena, outside in November. This is my sis-in-law, Jamye, myself, and my little sister, Ashley.

This is Jud and I. It's an awful picture. I didn't wear any make-up!

This is Zona Jones. His song "Two Hearts, One Love" was the song that Jud and I chose for our first dance at our wedding!
Earl Thomas Conley. I had never heard any of his music until that night!

And, the main attraction, TRACY BYRD!! His song "Watermelon Crawl" always makes me think of my grandfather and my little sister together! They loved that song and used to dance around together during that song! Always fun!

This is one of our local deputies escorting Tracy Byrd from the rodeo arena! This was tons of fun!! I loved the music and getting to hang out with my sisters!! Ashley and Jamye aren't just my sisters, they are wonderful friends! And, Jud actually danced with me to "Keeper of the Stars!" Anyone that knows Jud, knows that he doesn't like to dance!!

How did I get so far behind??

So, like always, I'm behind on posting, except this time I've reached an all new description of behind!! I've still got pictures and things to post all the way from November!! Why does it matter to me to get caught up from that far? Because this is my way of remembering things and I want to get it down! There have been so many things that have kept my mind away from my blog, most of which will be explained in these future posts! So, please be patient with all of the catch up posts and with me!! Thanks!

Wesley is walking!!

Okay, okay, so he's been walking since November! But, I've been really neglectful in updating my blog. So, in order for this post to really make sense, please visit this post from November 18! As I stated, Jud had a police class in Huntsville that week and he was going to be in a hotel from Sunday evening through Friday, so Wesley and I decided to join him!! I mean what could be more fun than sequestering myself and 15-month old child in a hotel room for FIVE days straight?? Well, considering his age and the length of time, he did really great!! But, here are the pictures from Huntsville!

A beautiful scene on the way to Huntsville!

Wesley had taken a nap on the way to Huntsville and this was how he looked when he woke!

After tackling Daddy in the hotel suite!

And, below is the secret from This Post:

Wesley began walking while we were in Huntsville!! He went from taking steps from one person to another Saturday, to walking around the room on Sunday. Then, come Monday, he was walking up and down the hallways, around the lobby and dining area!

He crashed Sunday night absolutely worn out! Here is sleeping in the hotel bed before we moved him to the playpen for the night!

Here he is Monday night giving the baby in the mirror sugars!!

And, knocking on the door, trying to get in the bathroom with his Daddy!! This became a common occurrence in the hotel room and, later at home!

Look at my big boy walking down the hall!

Wesley sitting out front of the hotel on the bench!

Wesley walking in the dining room!
Wesley and I walking the halls on Friday morning!
The length of the halls to show you how much Wesley was walking!!

And, as a side note, if you ever have to visit Huntsville, stay in the Comfort Suites* there!! They have very nice rooms and their employees are extremely friendly and helpful!! And, I'm talking everyone of them that I met, from the house-cleaning, to the maintenance , the breakfast staff, the front desk help and especially the manager! The hotel's check-out time is 12, but Jud had class til 2:30. So, I talked to the manager on Thursday and very willingly let Wesley and I keep our room until 2! This was a very nice little "vacation."

There was no compensation for this post.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

So, this is my first time taking part in this and if it turns out good, I may continue each week!

  • I have not procrastinated updating this blog with family posts since November!! (I'll get on that tonight, maybe) And, that would not be partly because I got a new laptop for Valentine's Day, if I had, which I haven't! And, that would not be because I have procrastinated loading pictures and things to my new comp, if all the previous were true, which of course it's not!!
  • I did not start the FlyLady system and within 2 week, slip up on everything, but the shining my sink!
  • I did not start the FlyLady system and within a month and a half, slip up on even shining my sink!
  • I did not decide for Wesley and I to have a pajama day yesterday, just because I didn't feel like dirtying up extra clothes!!
  • My husband (smart man that he is) did not decide to play a little rough with our 19-month old son right after he had RED Kool-Aid!
  • Our 19-month old son did not decide to spit it back out on himself AND my husband!! (Actually, that was kind of funny!) So, then I did not decide to just put him in another set of pj's after cleaning him up!
  • I, in turn, did not throw all the clothes in the kitchen near my washer to be washed "today."
  • Then, last night, my mom did not call for me to come over to help her submit her Avon order last night at 10:30. In return, I did not tell my mom that of course I would get "back" dressed, in order to go over there!
So, I think that about sums up my "Not Me!" moments! Have any "Not Me!" moments of your own? Head on over to MckMama's page and yours!!

Remembering......

There are some catch-up posts that I have been meaning to post, but this post has been weighing on my mind for a few days now. So, finally I decided to stop procrastinating and write it; though, I know I'm going to cry....

There has been a status going around on Facebook that made me stop and think. "Think about someone special in your life who has passed, someone who has touched your life and made a difference. Honor that person, copy this message and post it in your status. Remind yourself and others that as long as we remember, they will live in our hearts forever." My mind immediately turned to two women that have touched my life in the greatest of ways, one that I knew for the first 16 years of my life and one that I never knew, but still feel her loss.

The first is my Grandmother (maternal), Ruth. She was an amazing woman and I will never forget her. She was one of my best and dearest friends growing up. She would take me out and let me pretend to tan! I was very young!! She would get down on the floor to play Barbies with me. At 12 or 13, she introduced me to my first Harlequin Romance books! My mom wasn't happy about that AT ALL!! (But, I still have her copy of the first one that I ever read!) She used to celebrate Christmas (and most other holidays) with the best!! Everyone (her kids, kids-in-law, grandkids, and great-grandkids) would get at least one present! Oh, and the decorations!! Trust me, I remember! My younger sister and I were the ones that came over and helped her decorate and take down after each holiday! She used to pay the two of us to come clean up for her. My Grandmother made Christmas, CHRISTMAS!! But, my Grandmother was so much more than those things. She was my best friend, my confidante, one of my greatest heroes and a woman like no other! I spent most of my younger childhood taking it for granted, that she would always be there. It wasn't until I was 13 or 14, that her health really started going downhill and I began to realize that she wasn't as unbreakable as I thought. She had Diabetes, Parkinsons, and Alzheimer's. It got to where we couldn't leave her alone. When my Grandfather had to go somewhere, somebody had to come stay. She passed away less than a month after I turned 16 on a Wednesday, on April 19, 2000. I remember the Thursday before she passed. She had gotten to feeling better, it seemed. My Grandfather had been invited to a cookout, and had asked me to come stay with her for a few hours, even offered to pay me. I agreed to staying, but declined the money. It didn't feel right getting paid to stay with my Grandmother. But, it's not that, that made the night memorable. It was while I was there with her. She got up and went in the kitchen. I gave her a minute and followed her. By the time I got halfway across the kitchen, she was headed back. And, for the first time in MONTHS, she opened her arms first to give me a hug. Of course, I flew into them, and she told me that she loved me. Then, the following Wednesday, she was GONE. My hero, my best friend and one of the greatest ladies that I've ever known, was GONE. I was heart-broken and still miss her everyday. And, I wish that my son had had the chance to know her as I did. I love you, Grandma.

The next woman that touched my life, like I said, is one that I never knew. She is my Mother-in-Law, Barbara. I only know what I've been told of her, but just from that, knowing the impact that she made on those around her, and knowing the kids that she raised, I know she was an AMAZING woman. She was the wife of a police officer (who became a police chief). She was the mother of three boys and one girl. She was the mother of twins. And, she was a woman that everyone that knew her loved! Her and my father-in-law (A great man, himself.) had two boys, (Jody, then JimEd) and then had their twins, a boy (My husband, Jud) and a girl (My sister-in-law, Jamye). My MIL and FIL raised their kids to be wonderful people. But, for this post, I give the credit to the woman that I never had the chance to meet. She raised my husband to be a wonderful man that followed his father into law enforcement, a wonderful husband that I fall more in love with everyday, and to be an amazing father. My MIL raised my sister-in-law, Jamye, (who is more like a sister) to be a woman who is a great wife, a wonderful mother, and a true friend. She raised my brother-in-law, JimEd, to be a great man that also followed in his father's footsteps into law enforcement, a wonderful husband and an amazing father. My MIL raised my brother-in-law, Jody, to be very protective over his siblings and their dad. My MIL was an amazing woman that I never got to meet or to know a lot about, but raised her children to be wonderful people, amazing parents, and the greatest of friends. In doing this, she touched my life more than I could ever define. She touched the lives of those around her more than I could ever imagine, but that caused ripples that, then, touched my life. Thanks to my MIL, I have met a man that is an Amazingly wonderful husband and an even better (if you can imagine that) father, and a woman that is one of my best friends and someone that I can turn to and depend on! Thank you, Mrs. Barbara for raising an amazing family that I am SO thankful to part of. And, between Jud, Jamye and I, your grandson will know all about you! I wish more than anything that Wesley and I could have truly known you.

These are the two women that have touched my lives in completely unimaginable ways that are no longer with us.
