Carter Comes Home!!- August
If you remember during my catch-up posts for May, I mentioned my younger sister's baby, Carter, was born. He was born May 25th, but was not due til August 13th. They had a lot of ups and a few downs while in the hospital. He was off of oxygen within a week after being born, but he wasn't ready to eat. So, it took a little longer to get his weight up, which in turn took longer for him to hold his own temperature. But, bit by bit, this little guy fought to come home. (He is going to be a fighter like his Mom!) But, just a few days before his due date, he was able to come home!! Here is our sweet boy!
And, here is Wesley trying to give his newest cousin sugars!! He is soo excited and loves Carter so much!
Here is Uncle Jud with his Little String Bean!
Wesley even tried to help his Auntie feed Carter!!
Carter was really tuckered out after coming home and meeting his cousin!
And, here is Mommy and son!
We are so glad to have the newest member in our family home!! He is another wonderful blessing in our family!!

Wesley's Big Boy Bed- August
Two days after Wesley's birthday party, we decided to switch Wesley's crib over to a big boy bed! He also moved up from the Pooh Bear bedding to Disney's Cars bedding!
Needless to say, Wesley LOVED it!
We even put a stool down at the foot, so he could climb in and out on his own.
Now, for what I'm sure that you're wondering. Has he stayed in the bed to sleep? (Okay, so you may not be wondering, but I'll tell you anyway!) Yes!! The first few nights, he didn't get up during the night at all. About the fifth night, he got up about 15 minutes after we put him in bed and came into the living room. Jud and I went back to the bedroom with him and both of us gave him sugars and hugs. Then, Wesley climbed back into bed and Jud told him that if he got back up, he would get a spanking. We haven't had to worry about it happening again! He gets in bed every night after his story, hugs and sugars! This picture was taken his second night in his bed! (The lights were out. My flash lit it up enough for the picture to work.)

Tell Me About It Tuesday- My Background
Like I said in my previous post, one of my dearest friends, Morgan, and I have decided to start "Tell Me About It Tuesday" where we will tell you something about ourselves every week. These posts will be totally truthful and sometimes thoughtful, funny, interesting, sad and/or none of the above. So, for the first post of the series, let's talk about OUR BACKGROUNDS. I say it this way because when I first started my blog, I told you a little, but, for the most part, I jumped right in. So, tell us as much or as little as you want!
My name is Amanda and I am 26 years old. My birthday is in March, which makes me an Aries. I grew up in Virginia, just outside of Norfolk and the Norfolk Naval Base. I am a Navy brat. My parents are happily married and are wonderful parents. I am the next to youngest of four kids. My Dad chose to move my Mom, younger sister and I to Texas when I was 16. My grandmother (and best friend) had just passed away when my Dad decided to move, so I lost the only grandmother that I had really known, along with being taken away from friends, a wonderful boyfriend, an amazing church family and the family that I had grown up around. I went through two months of depression directly afterward. It was a rough time, but I came through stronger than before.
I graduated from the same high school that my Dad did in 2002. Then, graduated from a local junior college in 2004. After that, I went to a local University for a year and a half, but took a break and have not been back. I do plan to go back, hopefully in the Fall of next year.
I have married the love of my life and we have one precious son. My family are (and always will be) my first priority. I am a Christian and I am Southern Baptist to the core. If you ask me what I believe, I will tell you. I don't believe in shoving my religion down your throat and I don't believe in making someone feel awful because they believe differently. I am NOT a perfect person just because I am a Christian, and I know that. I am still becoming the person that I want to be, but I am closer than I was ten years ago. I believe in children obeying and respecting their parents. And, I believe that spankings do not harm a child in the long run. My favorite color is purple and has been since I was little. I would love to be the perfect mother and wife, but I know that, that's not possible. So, I'm happy with being the best that I can be. I don't believe that you only get one chance at love or that there is only one person that is meant for someone. I cry at movies with sad endings and I cry at movies with happy endings. I am a sentimental person. It's the small things that I fall in love with about a person. And, it's doing the small things with my family that I treasure the most! I LOVE making lists and getting the things on my list accomplished. I'm not very creative, but I try to make up for it with my effort! I have no interest in trying to be someone else or competing with anyone else. I don't like drama, but I will tell you if I don't like something or if you've done something that I don't like. I'm awful at lying. I'm either going to tell you like it is or I'm not going to say anything. I believe a person is steadily changing til the day that they die.
I hate washing dishes worse than any other chores around the house. I hate snakes and spiders. I hate seeing a man cry, even though I feel that it takes a stronger man to cry than it does to hold it in. I hate to hear people arguing in front of everyone. I hate it when people bring mess onto Facebook in front of everyone. I hate it when people spread the news of an argument to everyone, instead of keeping it between them and their spouses. I hate when people crowd close when they don't have too, for example, lines. I hate Will Ferrell movies. I just don't find him funny.
I love to read and I love to collect books. I love hearing a child's laughter. I love when my son comes running into my arms to give me a hug and kiss! I love the moments when he brings a book to me and wants me to read to him. I love the quiet of the morning right after Jud leaves for work before Wesley wakes up and any of the other kids get here. I would love to have another child, hopefully sooner than later! I love watching my two guys together. I love watching Wesley's reaction to Jud getting home. I love watching Wesley running with other kids. I love watching romance, action and comedy movies with my husband. I love the sunset. I love country and Christian music.
I'm full of words some days and don't feel like talking a whole lot other days. I tell things straight without a sugar coat. I don't play games. What you see is what you get. I'm me.
We hope you will join us on this new adventure and allow us a look into your life! Next week, we will be discussing our spouses or significant other!

Wesley's Birthday Party- August
We decided to plan Wesley's party for the Saturday before Wesley's birthday after Jud's cousin, Kathy, planned her wedding for Wesley's birthday! It really turned out great! Due to Wesley's love of Gator Country and Gator 911, we chose to go with a gator theme. I made the invitations using a scrapbook kit that I ordered. The two pictures were some that were taken at Gator Country.
We chose to keep this party small, with Wesley's grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and great-grandmother. We had hot dogs and hamburgers with chips. My sister-in-law, Jennifer, worked her magic on Wesley's cake! Notice the alligator on the top of the cake and one on the by the bottom layer!
After eating, I helped Wesley open his presents! He got a Dinoco Lightening McQueen from my second Mom in Virginia. He also got A LOT of other goodies, including a big aircraft carrier (my parents), an army tank (Jud and I), a writing tablet with chips and other goodies (Jamye), some cute clothes with boots and a Tag Jr. book (Jennifer), a Buzz Lightyear ride-on toy with toy phone (my Grandma), Tag Jr. and book (Jud and I), a Mack Truck (from my parents), and money (Jud's Dad)! This is just SOME of the stuff that he received for his birthday!
After he opened his presents, Jud and Ashley (my little sister) took the kids swimming! Gracie didn't want to swim. The three pictures across the bottom are of Jud sneaking up on Ella and after he got her, she's laughing and saying, "He got me! He got me!"
These pictures are after everyone left except for Ella. Jennifer and JimEd had to go clean their church, so Ella stayed to play with Wes. They had a great time together! Jud decided to play with Wesley's aircraft carrier while Ella and Wesley played together with some of Wesley's other birthday presents!
His birthday party turned out really great. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and, I believe, us adults had a good time too!

July Baby Shower!
We had scheduled Ashley's (my little sister's) baby shower the day after we got home from our vacation. I made the invitations (in the middle of the collage, minus the address and the reply phone number) and the diaper cake (top left). I also did a 12x12 picture sheet (bottom left picture) as the guest book. And, my second Mom, Lana, sent the papers to cover candy bars for the favors. The cake was made and decorated by my sister-in-law, Jennifer! She's a miracle worker when it comes to cakes!
These are a few of the many gifts that Ashley and Carter received! The top left picture is of the hostess gifts, the baby monitor and the timer that Ashley was asking for. The Elmo bag and included gifts were from my sister-in-law, Jamye. The letters spelling Carter's name were from Lana. And, the stroller was from some of the nurses at the hospital that Ashley frequently stays at due to her Cystic Fibrosis.
These are pictures of some of the guests. Our cousin, Brandy, and one of her handsome boys in the top left picture. Mom and Brandy in the top middle picture. One of Ashley's close friends, Ronna, our Aunt Lou and our Grandmother in the top right picture. Another of Ashley's close friends, Jessica, and her beautiful daughter in the bottom right picture. The bottom middle picture is of one of Mom's friends, Cindy (who's house we were at), her daughter, Caroline, and a lady that my Mom and Cindy work with Sarah. And, in the bottom left picture, (left to right) Cindy's daughter Katie, Ashley holding Jessica's daughter, Jessica, Bridgett (my closest friend's, Morgan, sister-in-law) and Bridgett's mom, Jackie.
And, these are some gifts that were given to Ashley for herself and a few more of Carter's gifts!
I'm so glad that Ashley's shower turned out as wonderful as it did!! Mom, Lana, Cindy, Katie and I put a lot of work into it and it turned out amazing!

Day Nine of our July Vacation to Virginia!
Our last day of vacation we got up about 8 or 8:30 and got back on the road. While in Atlanta, we passed the truTV (one of Jud's favorite channels) building! Later, we passed the Talladega Superspeedway! We also crossed the Mississippi River Bridge. At one point during the trip, Wes pointed over to his blanket, so I handed it to him. He pulled it over him and went to sleep!
This was a LONG drive! I remember telling Jud and Wes once we hit Shreveport that "There is an end in sight!" And, Wes was SOOO excited to be home!!

Day Eight of our July Vacation to Virginia!
We got up Thursday morning, finished packing up and left Kelsey's. First, we headed north to Virginia to see my second Mom one more time. There, she had a few boxes, some shelves and a rocking chair for us to bring back to Ashley for Carter. She also packed us a shoe box of snacks, a small pack of wipes, two energy drinks and a word search book for the road!
Lana had this shoe box packed FULL of good stuff!! (Thanks, Mom!!)
After leaving Lana's house, we stopped by Kelsey's parents' house to see my Aunt Nancy (Kelsey's grandmother). I took one picture on my phone of Wesley with Aunt Nancy, but haven't loaded it to my computer. After we left there, I wanted to stop by the cemetery where my grandparents (my Mom's mother and step-father) and great-uncle are entombed. This picture is of Wesley by my grandparents. My grand-mother is a woman that will always be a woman that I look up to! And, my grand-father? Let's just say it was NEVER boring with him!
And, this was by my great-uncle's. I don't know William, but Johnnie West was my great-uncle. I remember before my younger sister was born (I was three.) when Mom and I would visit my grandmother, I would go curl up on the bed (He was sick by this time.) and watch TV with my Uncle Johnnie. He passed away right before my sister was born or right after.
After we left the cemetery, we got on the road to head home. We were going to try to drive straight through the night, but didn't get too. Wesley started throwing a fit (not used to the long hours in a car), so we stopped in Atlanta, GA for the night.

Day Seven of our July Vacation to Virginia!
On Wednesday, Kelsey, Jeremiah, Jud, Wesley and I headed to Kings Dominion in Virginia! This was a theme park that I went to numerous times growing up. After entering the park, we took the pictures in front of the Kings Dominion sign! Then, we rode the White Water Rapids. Next, we went to see the Signed, Sealed, Delivered show (where Jud was told that he was not supposed to be taking pictures, so we only got a couple). Wesley really enjoyed cuddling with Kelsey during the show!
After the show, we rode a bird ride for Wes. Next, we rode the Grizzly and a few other roller coasters. Then, we came upon the Americana Ferris Wheel. The bottom left picture was taken right after we got on. The picture just to the right of that was taken after the guy told us that the ride would take TEN minutes! (It took every bit of that ten minutes!)
Then, we went to the water park! Jeremiah, Kelsey, Wesley and I rode the Lazy River while Jud stayed with the stroller. After the river, Jud, Jeremiah and Kelsey went to ride the grown-up water rides, while Wesley and I went to Lil' Barefoot Beach. I guess we spent about two hours in the water park. After I changed Wes back into his dry clothes, he fell asleep while we searched for Jud, Kelsey and Jeremiah. Once we found them, we headed over to ride the Intimidator 305! That ride is intense! Jud actually lost his ball cap on that one! After that, we rode the Volcano. Then, Jeremiah, Kelsey, Wesley and I went up the Eifel Tower. After we came back down, we went to one of the shops to buy Wesley a Kings Dominion bear and me a T-shirt!
This was a LONG day, but it was tons of fun!! I really enjoyed getting to spend this time with Kelsey, Jeremiah, Jud and Wesley! Wesley got even closer to Kelsey and Jeremiah throughout the day!

Day Six of our July Vacation to Virginia!
The Tuesday of our vacation, we chose to spend the whole day with my older sister and her kids! We ate lunch at the Taco Bell and then, drove to Roanoke Rapids where we went to Wal-Mart. We walked around in there, shopped, and then, went back to Kim's! We were able to really enjoy some down time with them and get some great pictures of the kids!
Wesley had a lot of fun playing with Jenna and Kirk, and giving Miranda and Jenna sugars! I really miss all of my family up there, and enjoyed getting to spend that time with them!

Day Five of our July Vacation to Virginia!
We had a full day on the Monday of our vacation, also! We left North Carolina where we had been staying with Kelsey to drive to Virginia to go to Virginia Beach. We passed Harbor Park along with Mount Trashmore. On the way back, we saw the sign for Baltic Ave. (Jud was telling me, "Take a picture! Take a picture!")
Pictures from the beach! I've got a picture of Jud and I under King Neptune from when I was pregnant with Wesley, also! Wesley did not like the sand at all!!
After the beach, the three of us headed back to my sister's for a bit. Then, back to Kelsey and Jeremiah's, where Wesley enjoyed some oreos with Jeremiah!! They seemed to really enjoy that!!

Day Two, Three and Four of our July Vacation to Virginia!
We arrived at my cousin, Kelsey's house EARLY Friday morning, so we ended up sleeping most of the day Friday. Then, Kelsey took off early, and we hung out at her and Jeremiah's (her hubby). Then, we went to my older sister's for a bit. After that, we went back Kelsey's for the night.
Saturday, we went to Kelsey's parents', Theresa and L.H., house for dinner and some swimming. We really had a great time with family that we don't get to see very often. But, I don't have any pictures.
Sunday, we had a really busy day! We were planning to go to church at the church that I went to when I lived up there, but due to time constraints, we chose not to go. We met some family friends at Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. The kids had lots of fun and so did the adults!!

2. Jud and Wesley with Chuck E.Cheese.
3 and 4. Jud and Wesley playing an 18-wheeler game.

After we left Chuck E. Cheese, we drove through my old neighborhood and by my old high school! That brought a lot of old memories back, some of the very best memories of my high school career!
Then, we headed to my older sister's (Kim) house to spend time with her, her husband, kids, our brother and his family. (Top left picture) Miranda (Kim's baby) and I. (Top right) My oldest sister, Kim, my brother, James, and I. (Bottom right) My nephews, Christian (James' middle child) and Kirk (Kim's middle child) playing with light sabers with Wesley looking on. Wesley really got to love Kels, Jeremiah, Coco and Teddy! He was calling Coco by the time that we left and began calling JJ (Jeremiah) after we got home!
This was a wonderful, but busy day! We really enjoyed getting to spend time with family that I see very rarely.

Day One of our July Vacation to Virginia!
We stayed SOO busy the back end of July and all through August, that I'm still playing the catch up game! But, I truly don't want to forget a second of it! For our summer vacation, we decided to go to Virginia and North Carolina for a week! I was born and (mostly) raised in Virginia, and I have family up there. We left on July 21st, which was our 3-year Anniversary to head up there. Due to the day that we left, we chose to drive through Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg (where we spent our Honeymoon), so we could take Wesley to the Aquarium. We thought it would be a nice little side trip! In the process, we drove through Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Here is a collage of some of the scenery of Sevierville and Pigeon Forge!
I also did one of Gatlinburg.
And, here is the collage from the Aquarium! This was a wonderful side trip. Wesley has gotten to the age to make things like this so worthwhile and so much fun!
This last collage was leaving Gatlinburg going up one of the mountains, around, and back down. The middle picture of the collage is showing the curves of the road that we were on! At one point, we were on a dirt road going around the mountain and Jud was reminding me of the movie, "Wrong Turn!" When we came back out on a paved road, we ended up coming out by the Pigeon River (all water pictures) and the power plant (bottom left corner)where they put us in when we went White Water Rafting on our honeymoon!
This was just the start of a fun trip! More posts coming soon!!

July 3rd at Gator Country!
Happy 4th (actually 3rd) of July!! On the 3rd of July, Gator Country had their 4th of July/ Big Al's Birthday Celebration! We decided to go, just the three of us this time. This is the entrance to the Cafe.
I was taking Wesley to get Jana to sign his alligator book from our Mother's Day trip with Kent looking on.
Wesley and I with Gary Saurage. Wesley didn't hesitate to smile at him or go to Gary for a picture later. Wesley seems to really feel like he knows this crew after watching every episode of Gator 911 with us!
Gary signing Wesley's book!
Wesley and I holding Chubbs, the baby gator! I wasn't sure that Wesley would hold him by himself, but when the lady handed Chubbs to us, Wesley hugged Chubbs to him!
And, he did it again when he sat with his Daddy with Chubbs!
Then, he stuck his hand into his mouth! Like I said in my Mother's Day post, Chubbs was born with a birth defect where he can't fully shut his mouth.
And, this is where Wesley went to Gary without any hesitation. From left to right, Kent, Gia, Arlie, Wesley with Gary, and Damon. This crew go out of their way to be friendly and more than willing to autograph things and talk with their fans!
And, this is Big Al! They ended up getting Big Al out of the pond.......

restrained,.......

then, let us take pictures with Big Al! They wouldn't let us get any closer than the piece of black tape for safety reasons.
Gary ended up choosing Jud, among others, to help cheer his turtle on the Turtle Race and their turtle won!!
This is Gary and Arlie signing a magazine for Ashley!
They had fireworks and swimming with taped gators that day also, but we didn't stay for the fireworks due to the drive to get back or do the swimming with the gators. But, we will be going back to Gator Country. And, I am truly sorry that CMT did not carry Gator 911 for another season. CMT lost one family of fans due to their decision, I'm sorry to say. This crew put themselves in harm's way for a good cause and our family will continue to back them for that! "Quick Hands or No Hands"
