I'm Back with a New Recipe!!

Well, Hello again!! I know that it's been awhile! Life really got in the way and I guess, to be honest, I kinda got lazy at posting. But, I'm back and playing catch up (once again)! But, this time instead of flooding everyone with back-up posts, I've back-dated them. So, ya'll can go through and read when you have time or want too! I'm still posting back-dated posts, so there will be new posts on past dates every chance that I get!!

And, for the recipe!! Jud, his brother JimEd, and brother-in-law Michael went deer hunting right after Christmas (I'll do a back-dated post soon!) and brought back a good bit of deer meat. Now, I'm one of those that I can't even see it in the shape of the deer or I can't eat it. (I don't know why, but I've been like that for as long as i can remember.) So, Jud worked around this and I've been eating deer sausage and tonight, ground deer meat in chili! It was GREAT!! So, here is how he made it.

Deer Chili

  • 3 lbs ground deer meat
  • 1 large onion (coarse chopped)
  • 1 pack chili seasoning mix (He used Lawry's)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 can diced Ro-Tel
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • 1 can red beans (drained)
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes
Cook the deer meat and onion together in a sauce pan until the meat is done. Then, drain the grease. Next, move it to a stew pot or Dutch oven and stir in remaining ingredients. Stirring frequently, bring to a boil. Then, reduce heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

We let it simmer for a while longer and it was GREAT!! And, the ground turkey is supposed to be less greasy than hamburger meat!

Thank you all, for sticking with me! And, I'm hoping to get better at keeping my posts current! Hope ya'll enjoy this recipe!

  1. Thinking about Chili these days makes me sick to my stomach (oh, morning sickness how I love thee), BUT there will be one day that I will want to eat this - all of the ingredients sound good. I bet it is - especially on a cool Fall evening. Glad you enjoyed it!
