Tell Me About It Tuesday- My Background

Like I said in my previous post, one of my dearest friends, Morgan, and I have decided to start "Tell Me About It Tuesday" where we will tell you something about ourselves every week. These posts will be totally truthful and sometimes thoughtful, funny, interesting, sad and/or none of the above. So, for the first post of the series, let's talk about OUR BACKGROUNDS. I say it this way because when I first started my blog, I told you a little, but, for the most part, I jumped right in. So, tell us as much or as little as you want!

My name is Amanda and I am 26 years old. My birthday is in March, which makes me an Aries. I grew up in Virginia, just outside of Norfolk and the Norfolk Naval Base. I am a Navy brat. My parents are happily married and are wonderful parents. I am the next to youngest of four kids. My Dad chose to move my Mom, younger sister and I to Texas when I was 16. My grandmother (and best friend) had just passed away when my Dad decided to move, so I lost the only grandmother that I had really known, along with being taken away from friends, a wonderful boyfriend, an amazing church family and the family that I had grown up around. I went through two months of depression directly afterward. It was a rough time, but I came through stronger than before.

I graduated from the same high school that my Dad did in 2002. Then, graduated from a local junior college in 2004. After that, I went to a local University for a year and a half, but took a break and have not been back. I do plan to go back, hopefully in the Fall of next year.

I have married the love of my life and we have one precious son. My family are (and always will be) my first priority. I am a Christian and I am Southern Baptist to the core. If you ask me what I believe, I will tell you. I don't believe in shoving my religion down your throat and I don't believe in making someone feel awful because they believe differently. I am NOT a perfect person just because I am a Christian, and I know that. I am still becoming the person that I want to be, but I am closer than I was ten years ago. I believe in children obeying and respecting their parents. And, I believe that spankings do not harm a child in the long run. My favorite color is purple and has been since I was little. I would love to be the perfect mother and wife, but I know that, that's not possible. So, I'm happy with being the best that I can be. I don't believe that you only get one chance at love or that there is only one person that is meant for someone. I cry at movies with sad endings and I cry at movies with happy endings. I am a sentimental person. It's the small things that I fall in love with about a person. And, it's doing the small things with my family that I treasure the most! I LOVE making lists and getting the things on my list accomplished. I'm not very creative, but I try to make up for it with my effort! I have no interest in trying to be someone else or competing with anyone else. I don't like drama, but I will tell you if I don't like something or if you've done something that I don't like. I'm awful at lying. I'm either going to tell you like it is or I'm not going to say anything. I believe a person is steadily changing til the day that they die.

I hate washing dishes worse than any other chores around the house. I hate snakes and spiders. I hate seeing a man cry, even though I feel that it takes a stronger man to cry than it does to hold it in. I hate to hear people arguing in front of everyone. I hate it when people bring mess onto Facebook in front of everyone. I hate it when people spread the news of an argument to everyone, instead of keeping it between them and their spouses. I hate when people crowd close when they don't have too, for example, lines. I hate Will Ferrell movies. I just don't find him funny.

I love to read and I love to collect books. I love hearing a child's laughter. I love when my son comes running into my arms to give me a hug and kiss! I love the moments when he brings a book to me and wants me to read to him. I love the quiet of the morning right after Jud leaves for work before Wesley wakes up and any of the other kids get here. I would love to have another child, hopefully sooner than later! I love watching my two guys together. I love watching Wesley's reaction to Jud getting home. I love watching Wesley running with other kids. I love watching romance, action and comedy movies with my husband. I love the sunset. I love country and Christian music.

I'm full of words some days and don't feel like talking a whole lot other days. I tell things straight without a sugar coat. I don't play games. What you see is what you get. I'm me.

We hope you will join us on this new adventure and allow us a look into your life! Next week, we will be discussing our spouses or significant other!
