Spending Mother's Day at Gator Country!- May

How cool are my Mom, sister (Ashley) and I? We chose to spend our Mothers' Day at Gator Country in Beaumont! Haven't heard of Gator Country? Gator Country is home to the crew that put on CMT's Gator 911. Gator 911 first aired in April as part of CMT's Adventure Country. Gator 911 was a show that was one of few shows on now that was family oriented and still enjoyable to all ages. CMT chose not to air a second season, which highly disappointed our family.It was a Friday night show that Jud, Wesley and I would watch together every week, as did my parents and sister. The Gator 911/Country crew rescue gators that wind up in populated areas and then, either release them back into the wild in a safe area or take them back to their gator farm. Wesley would stop whatever he was doing to watch Gator 911 when he heard Gary Saurage's (one of two co-owner's and the lead guy on the show) voice. Gator Country has a crew of 6 wrestlers plus their cafe and gift shop crew. This is all of us standing by the Gator Country truck.

And, Arlie "playing" with Big Al!! Big Al is around 85 years and was living at the park when Gary and Jana bought the park. He is over 13 ft. long and close to 1,000 pounds! He is the largest alligator in captivity in Texas and the 3rd largest in the USA!!

We only got to meet three of the Gator Country this trip, but this team are very friendly and they are really good at what they do! We've been back once since this trip (I'll post about that one later.) and will definitely go again. We are VERY disappointed with CMT for not airing a second season of this show. But, this crew really make the drive worthwhile and provide a fun and educational show!
